September is quickly approaching, and we’re gearing up for some exciting events around town. From outdoor music to culinary delights, there is something for everyone going on in Chicago this month!
The music plays on this month with the Chicago Jazz Festival continuing through Labor Day weekend (Sep 1-2) in Millennium Park. The North Coast Music Festival is also happening the 1st-2nd and promises to be an event for all ages and music styles. Music on the Lake is finishing up its Summer run the 1st-3rd and offers free live music and dancing. Speaking of free, Opera in the Park on September 7th is another free event at Millennium Park, and picnic baskets are encouraged. Additionally, the World Music Festival Chicago kicks off this month (7th-23rd) and also offers city-wide free concerts for all to enjoy.
Looking for something to do with the kids? Movies in the Parks continues this month (1st-15th) and features assorted films at different parks. The Science Museum features numerous free days for Illinois residents this month, and various museums are participating in free museum day on September 22nd. Midnight Circus in the Park begins August 25th and runs through September and into October, and promises to be a captivating event for families. The ZooRunRun, on September 9th, is a great way to raise money for a good cause, and features a 5k and a kid’s dash on courses within the Brookfield Zoo!

The Donut Fest at the Zoo, on September 8th, features donuts, mimosas, beer, wine, and coffee to taste as you visit the animals at Lincoln Park Zoo. Also on September 8th, the Forest Park Ribfest offers live music, great food, and children’s activities, and the Chicago Bourbon and BBQ Fest (8th and 9th) includes two music stages, nine barbecue kitchens, and vendor booths to enjoy. Last but not least, the Chicago Gourmet (28th-30th) offers premium food and wine events, with the weekend events showcasing hundreds of restaurant chefs, vintners, and breweries in Millennium Park.
