If outdoor music is your thing, you are definitely in luck this month! Chicago is hosting many musical festivals in August, beginning with the Summer Jams Festival (featuring 17 artists) at Greenhouse Theater Center from the 1st-5th. Next up is the Grant Park Music Festival (an outdoor classical music series) at Millennium Park from the 1st-18th. Ravinia Festival, billed as America’s oldest outdoor music festival, runs all month long in Highland Park, while Lollapalooza in Grant Park is on the 2nd-5th. Country music band Rascal Flatts is coming to the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre on August 10th, as well. The Summer Concert Series continues all month long in Giddings Plaza, and the Millennium Park Summer Music Series features various artists on Monday and Thursday nights from the 6th-16th. Finally, you can’t miss the I Am Fest, an independent art and music festival featuring local artists, at the House of Blues Chicago on the 25th.
If you prefer to tantalize your taste buds, we have plenty to offer you too! The Chicago Hot Dog Fest, from the 10th-12th, features hot dog vendors, beer, music, and entertainment in Lincoln Park. The Taco Crawl on August 11th offers a “taco per hour” and drink specials at 16 bars in River North, and a ticket to the Taste of Andersonville gets you samples from 11 local restaurants on August 15th. The Oak Park Micro Brew Review features tastings of 200 craft beers from 80 Midwest microbreweries in Oak Park on August 18th, and the Sangria Festival Chicago in Humboldt Park on the 18th-19th promises many different flavors of Sangria.
