Head’s up, Chicago! Summer has arrived and sunshine and happiness are in full swing! There is no better time to get outdoors and have some fun than now. There’s a lot going on this month, so check out a few options and get your booty out for a good time!
If you like ribs, you can’t miss the Windy City RibFest in Uptown on July 1! There will be food, beer, wine, bands, arts & crafts, and afternoon kids activities.
Also, ending on July 1 (beginning June 29th), Lisle’s Eyes to the Skies Balloon Festival has colorful hot air balloon launches, flights, and evening balloon glows, plus a food court, craft booth, kids’ area, live music, and nightly fireworks! The carnival opens the 27th of June, and kids 0-8 are free!
Obviously, the highlight of July is Independence Day, aka The Fourth of July. We have plenty of options for things to do so you can freedom hard like the Patriot you are! Oak Fest will offer live music, a carnival, food vendors, bingo, a car and bike show, and fireworks on the 4th, but you can check it out anytime between July 3-8. Glen Ellyn will include a morning run, a noon parade, afternoon carnival, live music, dancing, and fireworks on the 4th as well. Fourth Fest at Highland Park will include a parade, carnival, food, music, and fireworks on the fourth, and Naperville RibFest (July 4-7) will include fireworks on the 4th as well. Mount Prospect Lions Club Festival runs from July 4-8 and will include a large carnival with food, beer, wine, and fireworks on the 4th and the 8th, and Northwest Fourth-Fest will include a parade on the 4th, a carnival the 4th-8th, live music the 6th-8th, fireworks on the 7th, and a craft fair the 7th-8th. Other firework shows include: Arlington Heights on July 1, the Navy Pier, Evanston, Glenview, Itasca, Lake Forest, and Skokie. Phew! That’s a lot of freedom parties!
